Liverpool Urged to Make Massive Investment in Young Premier League Winger
Liverpool faces a crucial midfield boost decision as an expert recommends spending over £100m on young talent Adam Wharton.
Liverpool and Their Current Transfer Approach Liverpool, one of the Premier League’s top clubs, kicked off the transfer window with three signings – two defenders, Jeremy Doku and Ronald Araújo on loan, along with Víctor Muñoz in attacking midfield. However, the midfield remained largely unchanged aside from Harvey Elliott’s return from injury. With this situation, many wonder if Liverpool will choose to strengthen their midfield, the heart of the team.
Bold Recommendation to Invest in a Young Talent Darragh McAnulty, chairman of Peterborough United and lifelong Liverpool fan, suggested during an interview on talkSPORT’s White and Jordan show that Liverpool would do well to make a big investment and sign Adam Wharton, Crystal Palace’s central midfielder. According to him, Wharton is a player with huge potential who could become the backbone of the team for years to come. He even claimed that even if the price reaches £85-100 million, it would be a long-term investment that would pay off.
McAnulty compared Wharton to players like Alexis Mac Allister, who showed signs of decline in fitness and form last season but made a resurgence playing for Argentina. In his view, Liverpool should seize the opportunity to invest in such a promising young player.
Can Liverpool Follow Through on This Recommendation? At present, Liverpool appear focused on strengthening their attack, with one of their main targets being Bradley Barcola from Paris Saint-Germain. This could make it difficult for the club to compete for Wharton, who is both expensive and highly sought-after, especially with the transfer window closing soon.
Additionally, although Liverpool showed interest in Wharton earlier this summer, no recent progress or official talks have been reported. The 22-year-old continues to impress and earn praise for his abilities, but will Liverpool be willing to spend such a significant sum to secure his services? That question remains open for now.
